Bio
Sergey Simakov is an associate professor in the Department of Computational Physics of (MIPT) in Russia. He received his bachelor’s, masters’ and PhD degree from MIPT (Russia). He was rewarded by Award Best Young Teacher from V.Potanin Foundation in 2009, by Award of the President of the Russian Federation for Young Scientists in 2012. He is a partner of NESA, an expert of RACS. He was the guest editor of the Journal of Mathematical Modelling for Natural Phenomena and Computer Research and Modelling and editor of the volume “Smart Modelling for Engineering Systems”, Springer-Verlag, Germany. He supervised 2 PhD students.
Research
His main research interests are computational mathematics, numerical methods, modelling of the wave processes in a network, modelling of biological flows including cardiovascular and respiratory systems, transport processes, development of numerical tools for biomedical applications operated with patient-specific data. He is the author of more than 60 publications in these fields. With his colleagues, he developed a complex numerical model of respiratory and cardiovascular system with regulatory mechanisms, a method of numerical assessment of haemodynamic significance of the stenosis in coronary and cerebral vessels, a model of microcirculation during tumor angiogenesis, a model of blood flow during intensive exercise.
